The supplemental disaster assistance package passed by the House, and approved by the Senate, includes more than $3.0 billion in assistance for lost crops, most of which will be administered through the Wildfires and Hurricanes Indemnity Program (WHIP) that was used in response to 2017 hurricane losses.
The supplemental disaster assistance package passed by the House, and approved by the Senate, includes more than $3.0 billion in assistance for lost crops, most of which will be administered through the Wildfires and Hurricanes Indemnity Program (WHIP) that was used in response to 2017 hurricane losses. The bill includes some important enhancements to WHIP and will include assistance for prevented planted acres. The President is expected to sign the bill in the coming days and the Department of Agriculture can begin the implementation and sign-up process. Reece Langley, Vice President of Washington Operations for the National Cotton Council, joins us to talk about the provisions in the bill that will help U.S. cotton producers affected by these disasters.
