Sign up is underway for USDA’s Market Facilitation Program (MFP). The first round of payments should be expected in mid-to-late August with second and third installments likely in November and January. While the payments are county specific, they are not crop specific, and they will be available on planted acres for 2019. The payment rates depend on a handful factors including the county’s recent crop mix, production levels, and the amount of trade damage USDA assigned to the specific commodities. Reece Langley, Vice President of Washington Operations for the National Cotton Council, joins us to talk about a few glitches in the sign-up process and a payment rate by county map the council developed for producers.
